Mr President, yes, the peace agreement negotiated in Washington between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo under the aegis of the United States is tragic in more ways than one. Deploring the acidification of our oceans, warming waters or rising sea levels is not enough. We must also denounce the causes of this disaster. Finance must regain its rightful role in our economy, i.e. raising capital to support long-term projects and enable us to recover our economic sovereignty. In a word, it must be at the service of nations and peoples. If we were to have one goal, one goal, one course, it would be to empower nations to make the investments needed to weigh in on the world of tomorrow by funding our ex-cel-len-ce. Because above-ground finance, which breaks the links between the company and its stakeholders, is the worst threat to prosperity. Economic freedom must benefit everyone, otherwise it is self-destructing.

And I am surprised that, since this morning, little has finally been said about the restoration of our ecosystems and pollution, mining, land and industrial pollution. The cultivation of algae, for example, offers us great prospects that are still unknown, especially in the development of environmentally friendly fuels and fertilizers, and also in their ability to absorb our CO2 emissions. We account for less than 1% of global production. The way forward is to adopt an action plan from algae farming to industrial fishing using a transversal and comprehensive approach to correct the obstacles to our small-scale fisheries, without clarity and indiscriminateness on the part of the Commission, and to make a real contribution to the restoration of our ecosystems, but also to the sustainability of our small-scale fisheries.
