Electrification Action Plan (debate)
Madam President, the European Union's electrification project is being put forward as an alleged response to a problem created by its strategy and the consequences of the imperialist wars in which it participates. It strengthens European Union-based groups in fierce competition with those that dominate, for example the Chinese in electrification. Expensive LNG, monoculture of RES and the energy exchange magnified accuracy and energy poverty. Modern low-emission lignite plants paid by the Greek people, such as Ptolemaida 5, which reduced exposure to imports from other countries, were closed. Workers are being laid off and unemployment is rising, while groups such as PPC – whatever shareholding scheme the state has – will be subsidised with money in the sweat of the people for their profits. Energy-commodity means that people pay dearly, the environment is destroyed by the placement of RES where capitalist profit dictates, without alternative forms that do not benefit monopolies. Against the strategy of the European Union of groups and governments, we are fighting for energy – a social good, the abolition of the energy exchange and excise duties, a reduction and cap on prices, and the exploitation of domestic energy sources such as lignite.
