Recent devastating floods in Bosnia and Herzegovina (debate)

Increasingly unpredictable weather conditions have caused many natural disasters across Europe in recent years. A few weeks ago, Central and Eastern Europe had to face heavy flooding, triggered by heavy rainfall. Thanks to the government of Hungary and the cooperation of the Hungarian people, flood protection was successful and did not claim human lives besides material damage. The pictures we saw…

Effective measures to protect and empower children in the digital world (debate)

Watch

Dear Madam President, Children's safety and mental health should not be negotiable. The digital world is part of our daily lives, but also the threat of screen addiction, online harassment and radicalisation. Our position remains unchanged: Parents are primarily responsible for the upbringing of children. Europe must support them, and setting age limits and child protection rules is a Member State…

2025 Commission report on Serbia (debate)

Watch

Dear Mr President, We can all agree that Serbia faces serious challenges today. Reforms need to continue, social dialogue needs to be strengthened and the European integration process needs to be taken forward. At the same time, it is important to interpret today's debate in the current European political context. Over the past few weeks, we have received a clear message: Enlargement is a strategi…

Protecting children’s safety and mental health from the risks posed by social media – our duty to act now (debate)

Watch

Dear Madam President, Social media is part of everyday life, but the online space also poses real risks for children, to which Europe must respond decisively and immediately. It is particularly worrying that the algorithms of some platforms increase the spread of harmful content and the development of addiction by keeping attention as long as possible. Age limitation alone is not sufficient, relia…

International Day of Education, fighting inequalities in access to education (debate)

Watch

Dear Madam President, On the occasion of the International Day of Education, we must say: education is not a privilege, but a fundamental right that must be accessible to all without restriction or discrimination. We often treat educational inequality as a global problem and identify it with the poorest regions of the world. It also exists in Europe today. Not because of poverty, but because of po…

Rule of law, fundamental rights and misuse of EU funds in Slovakia: the need for an EU response (debate)

Dear Madam President, The Hungarian community in Slovakia has been promised that today's debate will be about the Beneš decrees. Compared to this, we see that the agenda has once again turned into a political debate against a Member State, but now it is Slovakia, not Hungary, that is on the agenda. While similar political debates take place here from month to month, injustices affecting indigenous…

Air passenger rights (debate)

Watch

Madam President, I'm sorry. The Regulation, which has been in force for 20 years, is the cornerstone of air passenger rights in Europe. Technical legislation, but also trust. Passengers know what to expect and the industry can operate within a predictable framework. Our position is clear: compensation for delays is an important passenger protection achievement that should not be withdrawn for the …

30th anniversary of the signing of the Dayton-Paris Peace Agreement (debate)

Mr President, Commissioner, 30 years after the Dayton Peace Agreement, the most important lesson is simple: wars are not won by military means alone. They can be ended through negotiations, security guarantees and a realistic peace framework. Hungary consistently supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the fundamental principles of the Dayton Peace …

Mr. President, please. While the European Union has not been able to finalise the proposal for the Anti-Discrimination Directive since 2008, there has been serious discrimination on political grounds by the European institutions. Mr. President, please. The European Parliament started the last plenary session of the year with a difficult but unavoidable theme: How can Europe protect its public security against organised crime? Experience shows that where state control is weakened, organized drug trafficking is rapidly gaining ground. Thank you very much for the question, I was preparing, as I was expected to receive a blue card. I strongly reject defamatory claims. Dear Madam President, When we talk about the dangers of online space, we often only mention cyberbulling, game addiction and too long screen time. However, it is just as harmful if a child encounters sexual content, radical religious or gender ideologies too early that he or she cannot process due to his or her age. Large digital platforms cannot contain these risks, so it is good to talk about it…
