Electrification Action Plan (debate)
Actually, the nuclear phaseout in Germany was, in 2011, carried by a super-large majority, including all democratic groups in the German Bundestag. And as we know, nuclear power plants have large difficulties delivering flexible energy. But flexibility is what you need when you have a system that is based on renewable energy. So the much better option would be to have batteries for the short term and to have gas power plants using hydrogen for the long term. Because then you can be flexible and you can be renewable at the same time, and we don't leave the waste to our children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren for a million years.
