The 2026 undemocratic elections to the Russian State Duma and its implications on civil society (debate)
Madam President, it is extremely presumptuous for this very European Commission to edify any country with regard to the elections held there. It is the same European Commission that fell into insane rapture when, under a false pretext, the first round of the presidential vote in Romania was canceled, because there won the unliked candidate from the status quo. "We did it in Romania, if we have to,…

Hybrid attacks against the EU Member States (joint debate)
Low-intelligence manipulations, such as the Russians planting a drone at Leipzig airport, have one goal - to make European citizens believe that the greatest evil in the world is Russia and that we almost have to fight it. However, the majority of European citizens are not at all as brainless as the European leaders think, and none of us is willing to repeat the sad fate of the soldiers of Napoleo…

Funeral for war criminal Ratko Mladić and glorification of war crimes in Serbia (debate)
Ursula von der Leyen and other senior EU bureaucrats complained that they were shocked when they saw the footage of Belgrade pilgrimage to Ratko Mladic. But you are very selectively shocked, dear Brussels officials. Recently in Ukraine there have been a number of cases of glorification of Nazi criminals, but on your part, neither word, nor howl, nor moan. On May 25 this year, with a solemn ritual …

Findings and recommendations of the Special Committee on the European Democracy Shield (debate)
Surely the offices of the Commissioners and the President of the European Union are much more luxurious than ours. Of mine, I certainly don't know about yours. As for the Iliad, I read it in high school, where we studied the Iliad and the Odyssey. So yes, Achilles is an extremely controversial person, a person who deserves to be respected for many reasons, mostly because he is trying to render jus…

Findings and recommendations of the Special Committee on the European Democracy Shield (debate)
Europe needs the protection of the European Union. We have to make that difference. Europe is much more. Europe is an idea, Europe is first and foremost a concept of freedom, of freedom of thought, of freedom of action. And what the European Union is doing, unfortunately, is to destroy precisely the fundamental things on which our civilisation rests. And what all of us, as Europeans, must do is tr…

Findings and recommendations of the Special Committee on the European Democracy Shield (debate)
Europe needs protection. It should not just reflect the blows of all those who want to take away from European citizens the freedom to think and speak differently, to act according to their own convictions, and not according to the orders lowered by the official speakers. We Europeans must actively fight to preserve the highest achievements of European civilisation. Who is our opponent? No, it's n…

Future of EU support for Russian democratic forces, anti-war actors and repressed civil society (debate)
Mr. Chairman, the dream of the collective West has always been to see Maidan in Moscow. For decades, the West has been training and funding many people and organizations in Russia, hoping that they will become its fifth column and destroy their country on their own. But despite the billions of dollars and euros given for this purpose, the majority of Russian citizens rejected the Danaean gift to W…

2025 Commission report on Ukraine (debate)
Mr President, the chief executives in Kiev bear the main responsibility for Ukraine's failure to meet any of the basic criteria for entry into the European Union. Vladimir Zelensky's closest friends and associates are accused of creating corruption schemes to embezzle huge sums of money. Can you imagine what these people or the like will do with European funds if their country enters the European …

Question Time with the Vice-President of the Commission / High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy - EU’s strategy to address the current crises in the Middle East
Mrs Kallas, there are countries in the European Union that say yes even before they have heard what Washington is asking them. This fact was confirmed by Marco Rubio, who unfortunately also mentioned my country Bulgaria among these countries. Again, I regret to add that there are other governments subordinated to Washington in Europe, and the leadership of the European Union also does not show tha…

EU governance under pressure – institutional responses to global challenges (debate)
I do not know which people you listen to, but I listen to Bulgarian citizens because I am chosen by Bulgarian citizens. And Bulgarian citizens tell me that Bulgaria should be on an equal footing within the European Union, and at the moment one of the few guarantees that we are on an equal footing with all other countries is the principle of unanimity. If this principle is abolished, then the big c…

EU governance under pressure – institutional responses to global challenges (debate)
Mr President, in recent decades, the European Union has become an increasingly centralised and authoritarian structure. The principle of unanimity in the most important decision-making in the Union is one of the few remaining democratic mechanisms. This principle ensures that less powerful countries like Bulgaria will be on an equal footing with much stronger countries like Germany. Recently, howe…

World Day for Safety and Health at Work (debate)
Statistics show that over 20% of Bulgarians live in poverty. It also shows that the average salary in Bulgaria is the lowest in the whole European Union. You understand that in this situation, working people cannot think about healthy working conditions. Many compatriots, living both in Bulgaria and abroad, are simply trying to find a job. And very often one job is not enough at all. In order to p…

Human trafficking and grave human rights violations linked to the recruitment of non-Russian nationals, in particular from Africa, for Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine
Mr. President, a little history lesson. For centuries, civilized European countries colonized Africa, mercilessly exploited the local population, and sold millions of people into slavery. The official end of colonialism did not bring the much-promised freedom and prosperity at all. In theory, African countries are free, but in reality they are robbed by the same people who were once conq…

EUCO and situation in the Middle East (joint debate)
Madam President, it is fashionable today to lament the ‘rules-based international order’. Until recently, he ruled the world, but he was no longer there, mourners lament. In fact, such an order never existed. After the end of the Cold War, there was no ‘rule-based order’, and the world was doing what the only remaining hegemon, the United States, wanted. Using beautiful phrases…

Situation in Venezuela following the extraction of Maduro and the need to ensure a peaceful democratic transition (debate)
Madam President, the United States has committed unprovoked aggression against Venezuela and abducted President Nicolas Maduro and his wife. The leaders of the European Union, who in other similar cases are filled with anger and call for hell and nuclear sanctions to fall immediately on the aggressors, this time limited themselves to toothless declarations and trembling like rabbits, waited for wh…

Brutal repression against protesters in Iran (debate)
on behalf of the ALDE Group. - Mr President, a failed attempt at a "colour revolution" has been made in Iran. And this technology is well known. Some public discontent, such as that in Iran because of the deteriorating economic situation, is being used to remove an inconvenient regime for the West. Over the past quarter century, this has been done in Serbia, Georgia, Russia, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan. T…
