Protecting EU citizens’ data from hybrid threats: the Lithuanian case (topical debate)
Dear President. Yes, honourable Members of the European Parliament, it is really interesting when this complaint, not for the first time on the Lithuanian side, comes from the Liberals and Conservatives in their country. In 2022, the Lithuanian National Cyber Security Centre under the Ministry of National Defence approved recommendations on the security of the Cyber Centre of Registers. He proposed double identification, but neither did the Minister of Innovation at the time, the chairman of the party of Greens, who has just spoken, and he complains about it. Of course, it must be admitted that the current minister did not do so either. Ladies and gentlemen, I believe that it is up to us to deal with our own problems and not to complain here to Brussels, because you are the liberals who are most guilty.
Protecting children’s safety and mental health from the risks posed by social media – our duty to act now (debate)
I want to ask you, do you not think that the genderist ideology that you promote, where you talk about 107 genders and vaccinate children in the head, is not more harmful than social networks?
Preparation of the European Council (joint debate)
Mr President, honourable Members. One of the biggest problems in the European Union is uncontrolled immigration. There are currently more than 62 million immigrants in the European Union and I cannot agree with the left that an immigrant who comes here does not have to respect our laws, does not have to comply with them, and a large proportion, although it seems that the number is still less than 10% in the European Union, but they commit almost 30% of the crimes. So we cannot accept this, and the European Union must give all countries the right to send emigrants back. Undoubtedly, efforts must be made to ensure that these emigrants find themselves in safe countries and in places where the culture is the same. We see how much this is damaging both to the labour market and to our common culture. I therefore congratulate the European Parliament on voting today ...
Question Time (Commission) - State of play on the European Commission’s pledge to reduce the reporting burden, in particular for SMEs
Mr President, honourable Commissioner. I am from a neighbouring country, from Lithuania, and I have been elected a politician in Lithuania for 28 years. When I got to the European Parliament, I was blinded and horrified by the bureaucracy. My advisor worked, not alone, but several, half a year later. When I ask people how long can a job last, they say, maybe a week? No. When you say such a period, everyone is blind. Christian Democrats, Liberals, Left, where you are in the majority, you You created this bureaucratic machine. You responsible for business shrinking in Europe, not keeping up the competition for bureaucracy. Will those who have created this bureaucracy be able to control it? Wouldn't it be better for you to raise the white flag and go out and announce new European elections? You are leading the European Union to destruction.
High time to deliver on the Single Market, providing certainty and predictability for EU businesses and quality jobs (continuation of debate)
Mr President, Europe is not defending its citizens and its businesses. Europe is overwhelmed by poor quality Chinese goods. More than 100 billion euros is a trade deficit with China alone. And that deficit is increasing. Infinite requirements for business are imposed by the Green Deal, bureaucracy. Some businesses are moving to America and other countries. Now we are still signing the Mercosur agreement, where Europe will not withstand competition, European farmers, and some of them will go bankrupt, will be flooded again with poor-quality food. We have a free trade agreement with India. Will we be able to withstand this competition? Is this the way we are going to destroy entrepreneurs in the European Union? Instead of protecting our market, creating a common market, we are destroying it.
Presentation of the Fertilisers Action Plan (debate)
Mr President, honourable Members of the Commission, honourable Members of the European Parliament, I would like to draw your attention to a very strange European policy on fertilisers. There are no sanctions against fertilisers, neither Russian nor Belarusian. However, only last year we increased the customs duty, but there are sanctions for transit through Lithuania from Belarus. Why? Do you know, Commissioner, why? For the fact that it is very useful for Putin, Russia, because now all Belarusian fertilizers are moving not through Lithuania, but through Russia to the ports of Ust-Luga. These are very high profits and high revenues for Russia. Why are you serving Russia? Why are you following Putin's policy? Can you answer? If you accept the sanctions that America is demanding on Belarusian fertilisers, they would be cheaper and cheaper for the whole of Europe. Why don't you want that? Don't listen to Putin, don't do what Putin demands you to do.
EU governance under pressure – institutional responses to global challenges (debate)
Mr President, thank you for giving me the floor, because when you chair, you do not give me the floor. I am very grateful for that. For Europe to be strong and respected in the world, it needs to make serious changes. First, have a strong army. Secondly, not only the European Parliament but also the President must be elected by the citizens of Europe as a whole, and he has the right to speak... only he would have the right to speak on foreign policy issues and he should lead, he should be the supreme European commander of the army. Then the whole world will respect Europe. The second is to move away from bureaucracy. Why do we need a Council of Europe when there is a European Commission? Abandon the Green Deal of the genderism that is destroying Europe and manage migration. And there will be a strong, united and powerful Europe.
EU cybersecurity and preparedness in view of advanced AI systems (debate)
Dear President. You know, while listening to the debate, I don't know where you're going, either in the Russian Parliament or in the European Parliament. Today, the leader in the fight against artificial intelligence, as well as the Internet, is Russia. Various apps are banned there: Signal, WhatsApp, Telegram. We do the same thing too. Instead of developing AI on its own, Europe is following Russia’s path, trying to fight it and censor AI. Two countries are at the forefront of the development of AI in the world: Russia and China. Maybe we don't look at Russia, maybe we should look at the United States better and develop these technologies. Only by fighting and following Russia will we find ourselves in the situation that Russian citizens are now in. They can not talk, pay with a bank card, buy food. So let's rethink our values.
Women’s entrepreneurship in rural and island areas and outermost regions (debate)
Honourable, you're talking about women, but you've invented a lot of genders yourself. Can you tell us how many genders there are at the moment? And why are you only defending one gender – women? Says 107, but you specify how many sexes there are?
Interim report on the proposal for the multiannual financial framework for 2028-2034 (debate)
Honourable MEPs, during this period, as long as the European Union exists, the old-fashioned countries of the European Union receive higher agricultural payments. And countries like Lithuania are not able to compete on an equal footing. Our farmers are constantly raising this issue and asking for the payments to be unified, but the European Commission is deaf. Farmers, especially medium-sized, small-scale farmers, also complain that these various bureaucratic hurdles in farming are causing the Green Deal to wreak havoc on many farmers. I would ask you to take into account the Commission of the European Union and the ruling majority of these problems, which are caused by local farmers and not just farmers, and to make it clear throughout the sector that we are cutting red tape, because this is what is killing the European Union.
Global Gateway – past impacts and future orientation (debate)
Mr President, honourable Members of the European Parliament. Didn't America and Europe create a huge rival for themselves, China? Business and manufacturing moved to China. Today, America has seen these huge mistakes and is trying to bring business back to itself: it introduces tariffs, creates conditions, reduces bureaucracy, invites investment in America. What are we doing? Europe is opening its gates even more, signing free trade agreements with India, with other countries. Will we compete with India, where the labor force is at least five times cheaper? We are not in competition with China: there is a trade deficit of more than 100 billion between Europe and China. That's not the way we go! We will strengthen European business and make Europe competitive.
State violence in Minneapolis and the rule of law in the United States (topical debate)
Mr President, this debate is very strange to me in general. There would be no more problems. We try to judge and look for how something is wrong in every country. In the United States, a citizen with a revolver obviously goes towards the officers and orders him to stop. They do not follow their instructions, he is shot. Another case is driving with a car. They also do not follow the instructions of officials. Officers also use force. Are they doing the right thing? They are enforcing the law. Look in Germany, when the masses, just the squares, enter with cars and people die dozens. And is that normal? It seems to me that, in Europe too, officials must treat such criminals very strictly and responsibly, so that such stories do not happen again and innocent people do not die. It seems to me that Europe, deal with your problems, because you also have problems and look less at countries and especially America.
Urgent actions to revive EU competitiveness, deepen the EU Single Market and reduce the cost of living - from the Draghi report to reality (debate)
Dear rapporteur, when I became a Member of the European Parliament in this term, I was very shocked by the bureaucracy. And not just me. I had to work my advisers for six months, and when one of them had to be fired, I also fired for six months. I have not seen it, and I think there is no bureaucracy in the world. Now my local advisors have to write reports, how many letters have been written to me, how many times have I responded. I shall be inspected again and those inspectors shall be inspected again. How much and when will you cut that bureaucracy, at least in Parliament?
Urgent actions to revive EU competitiveness, deepen the EU Single Market and reduce the cost of living - from the Draghi report to reality (debate)
There is such an experience in life. Draghi uncovered Europe in his report, revealing its problems: A huge bureaucracy has been created that is destroying Europe. If the manager works badly in the company, the shareholders retire him. You have been the dominant political force in Europe for 30 years, which has created this bureaucratic apparatus. Wouldn't it be better for you to resign? This is a political force all over Europe, because you will certainly no longer solve these problems.
A new action plan to implement the European Pillar of Social Rights (debate)
Mr President, the European Union's social policy must be very responsible. Today, the unemployment rate in the European Union is more than 6%. I believe that social policy cannot promote unemployment, especially the war of those who arrive from poverty to the European Union. On the other hand, employers must pay wages that ensure a decent working life. And the European Union must aim for a minimum wage of at least 60% of the average wage. This will encourage a person to work because he will live a dignified life out of it. Today, the level in some countries of the European Union is below the minimum wage by as much as 40 percent of the average wage. A responsible policy. And I think the issue of housing is very topical, and it's getting more acute. Here too, the European Union must make efforts to ensure that young families can buy their own homes.
Attempted takeover of Lithuania’s public broadcaster and the threat to democracy in Lithuania (debate)
Mr. Colleagues. (Language interrupted) I want to ask you if you (Some words have not been heard.) on Europe? Do you think it is right to appoint a director and dismiss a two-thirds public vote? Why have you not been disturbed by this law, which has been in force for twenty years, and the director of the council has been secretly appointed and dismissed? You want to save your director! What kind of democracy are you talking about? You are the LRT, not Lithuania, you are the Conservatives.
Attempted takeover of Lithuania’s public broadcaster and the threat to democracy in Lithuania (debate)
I am very pleased with your observation. When in Hungary - see some changes in Tusk. How did he come to you in Poland? That is, Orban... And when Tusk came to you in Poland, he fired half of the journalists from the public broadcaster overnight. Where was the European Union? Where was the European Parliament? Where's he? This is a double standard, not an institution of democracy! Isn't that what you think? We have to remove all the posters! I will come and tear it where it is. démocratique! Where: genderique!
Attempted takeover of Lithuania’s public broadcaster and the threat to democracy in Lithuania (debate)
I want to ask you, do you really sincerely believe that your proposals seek justice and democracy, freedom of the media? Do you think that the public broadcaster is free today? Honestly, when you put your hand on your chest, tell me, isn't it overwhelmed by the Conservatives?
Attempted takeover of Lithuania’s public broadcaster and the threat to democracy in Lithuania (debate)
Yes, dear colleague Petra, why do you not propose that staffing arrangements in the European Parliament should also be changed with regard to the appointment and dismissal of officials? Today there is a secret ballot and a simple majority. Suggest that here too, in order to dismiss or appoint an official, there should be a quorum... a requirement of two-thirds of all MEPs. Why do you have double standards? Is there no democracy in the European Parliament? You're in the majority. Propose amendments.
