Deteriorating situation of political prisoners in Belarus, in particular the case of Aliaksandra Pulinovich
Madam President, it is heartbreaking to find out that a girl of 16 years has been imprisoned and tortured by the regime of Lukashenka, but it's even more heartbreaking – yes, true, as many of our colleagues have pointed out – that we are discussing in this plenary, but I think that we have to do it. We have to remember her. We have to remember all those who are fighting against this dictatorship. We will overcome. We will succeed. Europe has to extend its sanctions. We are not a military superpower, true, but we are an economic superpower. Sanctions is what works and what these dictatorships really dread. It is time also for us together – I heard this speaker from the non-attached, you know, I mean, apart from these exceptions – to all remain united in our message against this bloody dictatorship of Belarus.
