CS Speech

State of the Union (debate)

Watch

Madam President, Madam President of the Commission, I must say that I had another speech prepared, but your speech, so to speak, lifted me from my chair. I have been serving the public for over 30 years. I am in political positions, but what I experienced today is something unacceptable to me. Maybe I'll surprise you now. I also believe in Europe, but I believe in something completely different fr…

Europe's response to reduced US military deployments in Europe, particularly at its Eastern flank in the light of the latest US decisions (debate)

Watch

Madam President, Madam High Representative, the withdrawal of American troops from Europe is a cold shower. But let's be completely honest about why we got into this situation. This is a direct result of Brussels' profound diplomatic incapacity. For many years, the European bureaucracy has not treated our most important security partner with respect, but with ideological arrogance and petty morali…

EU cybersecurity and preparedness in view of advanced AI systems (debate)

Watch

Madam President, dear colleagues, cyberattacks, disinformation and the misuse of artificial intelligence are no longer a threat to the future, but a reality of today. That is why we need to move from regulation itself to the real preparedness and resilience of our states and regions. Real security will only be revealed when the attack actually comes. As a former governor of the largest region in t…

Interim report on the proposal for the multiannual financial framework for 2028-2034 (debate)

Watch

Mr President, the multiannual budget cannot only be about higher expenditure. Above all, it must be about the fairness and effectiveness of the European Union. The weakening of geographical balance jeopardises Europe's cohesion. Therefore, cohesion policy must not pay for new priorities. The principle of excellence puts countries with less experience in drawing at a disadvantage. The EU's intransi…

Lessons from Budapest Pride: the urgent need for an EU wide anti-discrimination law and defending fundamental rights against right-wing attacks (topical debate)

Watch

Madam President, ladies and gentlemen, I must respond to the scandalous and activist intervention of the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and other EU representatives in the sovereign decision-making of the authorities of one of the EU Member States – Hungary. Hungarian authorities ban celebrations Budapest Pride. It was a sovereign decision of the institutions authorise…

CS Speech

European Council meetings and European security (joint debate)

Watch

Madam President, Europe is at fault in a difficult situation that will test our ability to respond properly to fateful challenges. We must act pragmatically, be united, but at the same time respect the sovereignty and interests of individual states. Security policy cannot be developed in Brussels, but must be based on the needs of the Member States. Europe's chances lie in transatlantic cooperatio…

CS Speech

Enhancing Europe’s civilian and defence preparedness and readiness (debate)

Watch

Madam President, Europe is now facing a major challenge and should demonstrate its capacity for cooperation. We need a strong, self-sufficient and competitive technological base, more robust industrial capacities and reliable information sharing mechanisms between the public and private sectors. Instead, industrial production is moving outside Europe, where bureaucratic and green rules do not appl…

Continued financial and military support to Ukraine by EU Member States (debate)

Watch

Mr President, ladies and gentlemen, the Czech Republic, including the ANO movement of which I am a member, is on the side of Ukraine and has always supported aid to the attacked country. But we cannot agree that someone from Brussels should order help. The European Union is still composed of sovereign states, which have the right to help other countries decide according to their capabilities. Each…
