Electrification Action Plan (debate)
Mr President! Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we have visitors from Germany sitting here today in the grandstand, and they think to themselves: Finally someone, the European Parliament, the Commission, got it. Electrification Action Plan; It's my electricity bill, finally the costs are reduced. No, that's not the case. It is again working on the demand side on the acceptance side; It increases the demand for electricity. It can't be. They promise us jobs: They will create jobs, but in China. We have 80% of the solar cell value added, known to be in China; We don't have a great production of our own. They promise growth: They will create deindustrialization. We do not have networks designed to deal with this demand; We don't have the battery capacity. You're talking about a plan that might be implemented sometime in the future. But the main problem I have with it is: They promise freedom through, for example, BEV vehicles and the like: They will create unfreedom and a planned economy. It can't be. Progress comes from freedom. This plan does not create freedom; it creates freedom – and not cheaper prices for you.
