Need to fight the systemic problem of gender-based violence in Europe (debate)

Ladies and Gentlemen, women's organisations estimate that more than 800,000 women in Poland experience violence every year. Unfortunately, the scale of this phenomenon is still growing. These figures are not just cold facts - behind them lies drama, suffering, fear, and sometimes life lost forever. As the European Union, we must support all actions that combat violence against women. We must step …

Urgent need for EU support to Ukraine against Russia’s escalation of its war of aggression (debate)

Watch

Madam President, I'm sorry. Russia is trying to set fire to our European home and is doing so ever closer to our borders. On Sunday, a Russian drone hit a train going from Kiev to Warsaw, two kilometers from the Polish border. At night, NATO fighters knocked down a drone over Lithuania. And someone else asks, is this our war? I look to the far right and the Confederacy. Russia is testing Europe. P…

Mr President, thank you very much. I'll say this: Sudan is our business. Sudan is our business, because when hunger becomes a weapon, what comes up? Migration. I heard two bad answers about it today. The first is the leftist dream that it is enough to open the door and the world will work itself out. Well, it's not gonna work out. We've had examples of this before. The second answer: Migration is …

Mr President, thank you very much. Commissioner, I'm sorry. Poland recognized Ukraine's independence as the first country in the world on December 2, 1991. We did it because we knew that there is no safe Poland and Europe without a free Ukraine. But there is no free Ukraine without the support of Poland and the whole Union. That's why we're clear: ‘Yes’ to Ukraine’s membership of the European Unio…

Advancing towards a care society: addressing the gender care gap (debate)

Madam President, I'm sorry. You know what? Bill Clinton may not always have been right, but his famous slogan 'Economy, fool!' fits into today's discussion as a relief. Closing the care gap is fairness for women, but it is also very beneficial for the economy. Every day, women around the world devote 16 billion hours to unpaid care work. 16 billion! It is known - children, caring for the elderly, …

Mr President, ladies and gentlemen, I'll get right to the point. The fact that someone in the European Union is thinking about leaving the veto is the fault of specific right-wing politicians. Whose is it? It's the populists' fault: Fidesz and PiS. What have you done? You don't deserve to be trusted. Orbán blocked funds for the Polish army. He vetoed sanctions against Russia. He has been violating…

Mr President, thank you very much. Ladies and Gentlemen, First of all, I would like to thank you very much for this debate, for the fact that we were able to discuss here and differ from the right to the left. This is the essence of our democracy. But it is also worth remembering that it did not happen by itself that a lot of women for many years had to fight for these rights. These rights were wo…

Madam President, I'm sorry. Ladies and Gentlemen, More than 100 years ago, the inhabitants of St. Petersburg took to the streets with simple slogans: ‘Bread!’, ‘Peace!’ and ‘Down with war!’ fought for dignity, justice and the right to a normal life. A century has passed, and these slogans still sound familiar. Although we live in the 21st century, many women's problems remain unresolved. An…

Mr President, thank you very much. In March 2025, when the Hungarian government passed a law restricting freedom of assembly, it was not just about one social group or the exclusive blocking of the equality parade in Budapest. This was the next stage of the gradual dismantling of democracy, which has been going on in Hungary since 2010. This is no longer a value dispute. This is a real loss of civ…
