Continuing the unwavering EU support for Ukraine, after three years of Russia’s war of aggression (debate)

As the anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine approaches, it will not hurt to remember that on the day of Putin's attack, many feared that Kiev and the whole of Ukraine would fall within three days. Russia's aggressors failed to defeat Ukraine after three years. The myth of the all-powerful and invincible Russian army has fallen. Thanks to the will of Ukrainians for national freedom, thanks t…

Ensuring promotion of clean energy in European policies (debate)

Watch

Well, I will answer openly. I will agree to have a nuclear power plant in my garden, because I think that it is a concentrated source of energy compared to, let's say, solar and wind. And it is true that it is a non‑intermittent source of energy, which we need as a baseload for our industries. I think that, of course, there are some pros and cons, but if I compare this altogether, nuclear and also…

Ensuring promotion of clean energy in European policies (debate)

Watch

Madam president, Commissioner, clean energy is not only solar and wind, it is every low-carbon source, including nuclear. I welcome the fact that nuclear is now in Brussels taken into account, and we are speaking openly much more about nuclear nowadays. Ursula von der Leyen even called the move away from nuclear a strategic mistake. I agree, but the rules are several steps behind the rhetoric. In …

Urgent measures to strengthen the competitiveness and safeguard quality jobs in the EU’s automotive sector (debate)

Madam President, Commissioner, on the question automotive We return to this forum repeatedly. I would like to recall that it was the ECR Group that was the first to push for a resolution at a time when European carmakers were threatened with senseless fines. We also pushed for accelerating the legislative change towards lifting the ban on internal combustion engines after 2035 and setting real tec…

Mr President, dear colleagues, for ECR the key is to focus on road safety, without imposing any additional administrative burdens on Member States through environmental measures, especially the emission screening system, or creating any loopholes by introducing the recording of odometer readings during any vehicle maintenance lasting one hour or longer. Therefore, we believe that the aforementione…

I am convinced that I am not buying a house here, I am not buying a physical thing, but I am buying a license to play a particular title. Madam President, Commissioner, I understand the arguments of the players who live by video games and invest many tens, hundreds and perhaps thousands of hours in them. On the other hand, I am a conservative who respects private business, the freedom to choose the provision of goods and services, and the copyrights of publishers. I think it is worth discussing whether all companies actually sell vi…

High time to deliver on the Single Market, providing certainty and predictability for EU businesses and quality jobs (continuation of debate)

Watch

Madam President, Commissioner, let us admit it and say it flat out. We have a brutal delay in the Single Market project. At the end of this year it will be 34 years. In the Single Market, we must finally start working and stop talking. The Commission must roll up its sleeves and begin to systematically break down artificial barriers and, of course, prevent any new ones from emerging. Yes, it won't…

Mr President, Commissioner, I too will be going on a more positive note today. The first thing I would like to mention is that I am glad that we finally have a Commissioner for Nuclear Energy. We need to equalize the nucleus in the taxonomy, we need to adjust the rules for low-carbon hydrogen,…

Madam President, Commissioner, the Draghi report correctly named where we slept and offered a solution. Unfortunately, even the good one has not always come to the right end, and somewhere we are still waiting for what and when it will come.
