EU strategies for islands, coastal communities and outermost regions (debate)

Watch

Madam President, ladies and gentlemen, the European Union is today debating a strategy for its outermost regions. But does the EU only know what is really going on there? In Mayotte, almost two years after the devastating passage of the terrible cyclone Chido, reconstruction is a national and European disgrace. In this French department, tens of thousands of European citizens survive without any a…

Stop gold-plating, relieve SMEs: Member States must implement EU legislation without adding extra bureaucracy (topical debate)

Watch

Madam President, there is a terrible administrative burden on our SMEs. Let's be honest, the texts voted here are often disconnected from reality, even totally crazy. This is the case of the Green Deal, a harmful text that my group of Patriots for Europe has fought tirelessly because it organizes European degrowth. But some states are making things even worse: In France, Parisian technocracy sabot…

Madam President, for almost three years, a project for a very high-voltage line has been revolting the south of France. For connection needs in 2030, not all of them certain, and for the decarbonisation of the industrial port site of Fos-sur-Mer, the French State wishes to install a very high voltage line between Jonquières-Saint-Vincent and Fos-sur-Mer. While everyone is of course in favour of re…

Financing EU priorities in a sustainable, predictable and resilient way through a new EU own resource from the online gambling and betting services sector (debate)

Watch

Madam President, because it ignores the basic principles of public accounting and still does not know that we only spend what we have, the European Union – which forecasts its expenditure before knowing whether it will have the revenue in front and which has massively indebted itself in recent years in an outrageous way – has been talking for months about introducing new own resources, in other wo…

Recent proposals to fight poverty in the EU (debate)

Watch

Madam President, the European Commission is now wondering how to combat poverty in Europe. We believe that the debate is misplaced. We would rather talk about combating the poverty of Europeans, because they are Europeans that we have to deal with here. Yes, fighting European poverty should be a priority. Unfortunately, in addition to preferring to take care of non-Europeans, you also impose a dou…

Interim report on the proposal for the multiannual financial framework for 2028-2034 (debate)

Watch

Mr President, of the 95 amendments tabled on this interim report on the MFF 2028-2034, a very important part comes once again from our Patriots for Europe Group. This proves that we have worked, proposed and alerted; However, despite this, we will clearly vote against this text. Why? Because it embodies everything that Europeans no longer want: more centralisation, more debt, more bureaucracy, mor…

Protection of the European Union’s financial interests – combating fraud – annual report 2024 (debate)

Madam President, the Commissioner has indeed just said: The adoption of this report is important, because there are recommendations that are totally factual in this report and that are important to recall the real subject. I would like to thank the speakers who spoke a few moments ago, in particular the right-wing groups, who spoke to explain that we need to look at the substance of the matter, be…

Mr President, Commissioner, ladies and gentlemen, after several months of work, I am delighted to be before you today as rapporteur for this text on the protection of the Union's financial interests for the financial year 2024. This annual report is, in my view, an important report. It is not only a report that talks about the past, it sets out areas for improvement through concrete proposals to b…

Implementation of the rule of law conditionality regime (debate)

Mr Gotink, another usual defamation of a sovereign government: Mr. Orbán was elected, re-elected. Madam President, you claim that the rule of law conditionality regime would protect EU values from EU enemies. The urgent need to combat discrimination in the EU through the horizontal anti-discrimination directive (topical debate)

Watch

Mr President, it was important for the Socialist Group to hold a debate on discrimination here. However, I have heard no one here today stand up for discrimination. We are therefore looking for the usefulness of this debate, if we all agree; Unless some here are lying. No, I believe, Mr. Member, dear colleague, that you have misinformed yourself. We are not asking for the Frexit, we are asking to change the European Union from the inside and we deplore in particular that the one you support, that is to say Emmanuel Macron, does not defend the interests of France here and that all posts are generally trusted by Germans, because France does not know how to defend …

I believe, Madam, dear colleague – I was mayor of a commune in France for ten years which was along the Rhone, a European river – and I believe above all that what will not bring back the dead, as you say, are the failures of the rulers and leaders who presided over the destiny of Spain at that time.
