Empowering the Single Market to deliver a sustainable future and prosperity for all EU citizens (debate)
I think that the European Parliament should share and support the strategy of the Letta report to modernise the EU single market. I particularly agree that, if we want the single market to really improve people's lives, it must have a soul that is social dialogue, which must involve and involve people, society, intermediate social bodies, workers' and business unions, relaunching social dialogue as Jacques Delors wanted and successfully practised it, also thanks to the collaboration of the then Secretary of the ESC, Emilio Gabaglio. The great challenge to be faced, I believe, is now the promotion of a common fiscal policy, to support weaker territorial areas with favourable tax conditions, overcoming the differences in national tax systems that hinder fair competition.
