From institution to inclusion: an EU action plan for deinstitutionalisation, family- and community-based care (debate)
Madam President, in Romania, a person with a disability has an allowance of between EUR 45 and EUR 100 per month. The current president of Romania, Nicusor Dan, supported and appointed president by the European Commission and Mr. Macron, as mayor of Bucharest, until he became president, halved this allowance for people with disabilities. He could only get money from people with disabilities. Currently, the Bolojan government, also set up by the European Commission and Macron, has taken some steps. And what did he do? It has halved and cancelled many allowances for people with disabilities. This is the protection of people with disabilities in Romania. What's more, you're talking about deinstitutionalization. We have been deinstitutionalizing some disabled children for about two years now and I want to say that for two years they have been kept in apartments, in studios, from where they have never been taken out, for two years.
