UN Climate Change Conference 2024 in Baku, Azerbaijan (COP29) (debate)

Speeches
Mr President, I would like to thank you. Climate conferences like COP 29 are more about goodness signaling than effective climate action. This time they will meet in the oil state of Azerbaijan to focus on how we will finance climate contributions to countries that today are not very poor. Does climate support from Greece solve the climate challenge for Qatar? Does hysteria about the climate emergency and the shutdown of nuclear power help us achieve climate goals? No, the left's placard policy makes us more dependent on fossil fuels. The UN rewards countries such as China, India, while Sweden, which accounts for 0.1% of global emissions, is penalised. We need technology development, we need innovation and we need more nuclear power to reduce emissions. Less panic and more innovation. I and many Swedes wonder what we get for the money? How do we ensure that these billions do not end up in the pockets of corrupt leaders? Before more money is raised, these questions need to be answered.
Closing the EU skills gap: supporting people in the digital and green transitions to ensure inclusive growth and competitiveness in line with the Draghi report (debate)

Speeches
Mr President, I would like to thank you. The EU wants to close the skills gap and increase competitiveness, according to the Draghi report. But what does that mean? More loan-financed grants that Swedish nurses and construction workers will have to pay and also future generations. Draghi wants to introduce EU taxes and abolish the right of veto. This is a direct threat to Sweden's independence. The EU is also proposed to step up support for the digital and green transitions. It sounds cute, but it will be an expensive deal for Sweden, which is already a world leader. We've already ploughed billions into green prestige projects that don't deliver. Isn't that enough? It is the interests of ordinary citizens that we must protect, not the utopian visions of the EU scheme, which make it difficult to run a business, pay the electricity bill or make ends meet. According to the business newspaper, the Draghi report should scare blows at the EU. I wonder, are you listening to the bourgeois EPP? Are you ready to help us scrap these crazy plans?
Iraq, notably the situation of women’s rights and the recent proposal to amend the Personal Status Law

Speeches
Madam President, I would like to thank you for your My daughter should not grow up in a Europe of Islamic values. We are now seeing how Iraq is planning legislation that violates women's rights. Even small children, nine years old, can be married off. This is legalized pedophilia. These medieval values are now spreading and normalising in Europe because of naive and anxious politicians who do not dare to protect our way of life, while the political left even allies itself with the Islamists. The former red-green government's information brochure aimed at "you who are married to a child" should never even come to mind. Nor should the EU fund campaigns such as "freedom is in the hijab". These are examples of submission. We must stand up for women's rights, stop importing women's oppression and stop normalizing and legitimizing misogynist Islam. Sharia law is not welcome in Europe.
Mr President, I would like to thank you. The EU is pursuing an energy policy that is directly harmful. This is a self-destructive path, marked by excessive bureaucracy, wrong priorities and a naive ambition for the EU itself to be able to save the global climate. So what is the consequence? We are currently witnessing deindustrialization. The EU must stop looking at renewables as the only solution and stop penalising nuclear power. Look at Germany and its failed energy system. This is a warning example. Sweden has to some extent kept its nuclear power and managed to avoid dependence on Russian gas and prevented the same catastrophe as we are now seeing in Germany, where companies are now fleeing the country. I refuse to let the Swedish people suffer because of the wrong priorities of other countries. Instead of Sweden having to pay for other countries' failed policies, countries like Germany should do their homework and tackle their own energy production. At the same time as we have to pay for the rest of Europe, our pensioners in Sweden freeze in the winter. The Swedish people do not want to pay higher electricity bills for us to supply energy to countries that for ideological reasons have chosen to shut down their nuclear power. This is nothing more than legalised looting that affects ordinary citizens and Swedish companies. If other countries do not take responsibility now for their own energy policy and energy supply, Sweden's patience will run out. What happens if we cut the cable? Then what are you going to do? A common electricity union does not benefit anyone.
One-minute speeches on matters of political importance

Mr President, I would like to thank you. In Sweden and in the EU, tax money is being spent on green projects, which would never be financed by private investors for the simple reason that they are too risky. But when Swedish taxpayers pay the bill, then no risks are too great. Billions have been invested in the Northvolt air castle. This is a company that has suffered major delays, rampant costs and even deaths, and now they are at risk of going bankrupt. Despite billions of investments, it looks like Northvolt will produce more deaths than batteries. It is clear that in pursuit of the sacred green transition, not only our economy but also people's security is at risk. It is now time for us to start looking responsibly at our common tax dollars. The EU must immediately scrutinise all green investments, this is a green bubble.
