High time to deliver on the Single Market, providing certainty and predictability for EU businesses and quality jobs (continuation of debate)
Mr President, Commissioner, Mrs von der Leyen says that companies need predictability and clarity. Yes, of course. But do you know who needs that much more? The millions of workers who thought they would get training and a well-paid job from companies, who, under the guise of the green transition, received millions in subsidies. But little of that has happened. Those companies took the money and put it in the pocket of the CEOs and shareholders. They closed factories and moved their production to low-wage countries with weaker protection. The few companies that had actually prepared for the new rules on deforestation, chain liability, emission reduction and the like now see that all those rules are being removed. Instead of supporting companies that follow the rules, we now reward companies that don't want rules. What you are doing now is deregulating under the guise of competitiveness. If you think that companies will create better conditions and raise wages on their own initiative, then you are mistaken. Deregulation is of all times and even now the trade unions will oppose it with all their might. And I will support them in that.
