One-minute speeches on matters of political importance
Mr President, this morning thousands of people went to work. Tonight, many of them will never return. There is the one who falls from a scaffolding, the one that collapses during the harvest, or the high school student broke in the middle of a stage by a forklift. Every year, work kills 3 million people worldwide. And, in Europe, this mortality is on the rise in 12 countries, with France holding the dramatic record of this hecatomb. And this balance sheet, of course, is that of Emmanuel Macron. With its removal from the main prevention bodies, death at work increased by 44%. Death at work is not a miscellaneous fact, it is a social phenomenon. This is a political scandal. Flavien, Alban, Cédric, Amara, Benjamin, Lauriane, Damien, Ludovic and many others. Behind the statistics are families broken forever. This week we are making a resolution to establish a European day in their memory. But let's be clear, commemorating is not enough. It is time to protect workers from the logic of profitability. It's time to act and do justice. It is time to take all necessary measures to stop employicide.
