One-minute speeches on matters of political importance
Mr President, from Brussels you are imposing more and more standards, more and more constraints, more and more costs. And in the end, it is our companies, our workers and our territories that pay the price for your decisions. In Rumilly, Tefal is weakened by your regulatory offensive against PFAS, conducted without industrial vision and without serious solutions to preserve our jobs. And in my department, Savoy, the examples are multiplying: In Valgelon-La Rochette, your absurd packaging standards led to the closure of DS Smith cardboard. Behind this decision, it is employees, families, industrial know-how that are sacrificed. In Maurienne, the Ferroglobe plant is agonising while you let in massive quantities of Chinese silicon produced without complying with our social or environmental standards. And your answer: some protective measures by precisely excluding silicon metal. It is incomprehensible, it is irresponsible. The truth is that you protect globalisation more than our industries. For Savoy as for France, we must regain control to protect our jobs, our factories and our industrial sovereignty.
