One-minute speeches on matters of political importance
Recently passed Barbórka, the feast of miners. In Poland, we thank them for their hard work, because thanks to it we still have heat in our country, we have electricity, and our economy works. But the leaders of the European Union want to get rid of coal and thus Poland faces a huge challenge. Our economy is still based on coal, it is the key to our stability and energy independence, especially since we do not have nuclear power plants. To build such power plants, it takes time and huge outlays, and we have enough coal all the time. The entire climate policy of the European Union threatens catastrophe for Polish industry and citizens. If you force us to close coal mines and power plants and do not give us any viable alternative, it is a huge mistake, but also a risk that we will become dependent on third countries. We really need support in the development of nuclear power and real renewable energy sources, such as biogas plants, such as hydrogen, such as hydropower plants, and not extortions that destroy our economy, our industry. We want to be modern, but our mines and power plants must operate all the time, because the real transformation is based on compromise, not on green ideology.
Activities of the European Ombudsman – annual report 2023 (debate)
Madam President, thank you very much. Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Spokesperson, The rulers are subjected to a constant moral hazard, the victims of which are our freedom, our wealth and our security. Not only for the past year, but for all these years, you have defended these values, fighting against the omnipotence of bureaucrats and exposing the sometimes behind-the-scenes activities of the institutions of the European Union that people had a right to know about. As part of this fight for transparency and integrity among officials, you revealed, among other things, secret talks between the head of the European Commission and representatives of Pfizer regarding the purchase of vaccines. In addition, you have also dealt with the Qatargate case, leading, inter alia, to the adoption of new legislation requiring greater publicity. However, the question arises whether this is the right way, because the Ombudsman is nevertheless an office that supervises other offices. Doesn't the need for such a superintendent indicate that we are dealing with excessive bureaucracy and centralisation? We should break with this vicious circle and take away the power of bureaucrats over our health, freedom and property. Instead of managing the bureaucracy, we should cut it out like a malignant cancer. In this sense, the Ombudsman's activity is like a patch glued to an open fracture. Despite this, in the fight against an all-powerful bureaucracy that will not take a step back, the weapon in the form of the Ombudsman is better than none. On behalf of the Europe of Sovereign Nations Group, I would like to thank you sincerely for all these years of hard work, hard fight against the pathologies of the bureaucracy. You set the bar very high.
Rise of energy prices and fighting energy poverty (debate)
Madam President, thank you very much. Over the past five years, energy prices in Poland have doubled. And this is precisely your fault – Eurocrats detached from reality, repeating slogans about ecology, the Green Deal, your green supporters and your servants, for example in Warsaw, who are mindlessly implementing your directives that lead to the collapse of the economy. In Europe, energy poverty affects almost 10% of the population. That's over 40 million people. How long will this lazy dance last? When will you finally notice that you are making us an open-air museum from Europe? We are closing our mines, our power plants on your orders, we are going backwards instead of getting rich, and you have no solutions. You increase energy prices with your actions, and then you propose subsidies and price freezes like in the Soviet Union. And you're surprised it doesn't work. It's never gonna work. I agree that the planet needs to be saved, but the planet needs to be saved from you. Let's put an end to climate policy, to green ideology, to the Green Deal. Let's focus on proven, cheap energy sources, not windmills and expensive.

Enhancing Europe’s civilian and defence preparedness and readiness (debate)
Madam President, thank you very much. While a change in the approach to defense is needed, I do not agree that this change is supposed to involve mixing our armies and services. Not every Member State borders Russia and Belarus, so not everyone understands the importance of the situation in which we as Poland find ourselves. We as Poland and the Baltic States do not need new offices, plans, but attention and greater support in the face of this war, which we are already waging. After all, our soldiers are defending the border with Belarus. Weapons in the face of hybrid warfare. There is also a conventional war abroad. Defense should begin at the lowest possible level. We know examples from history where small, well-organized and armed groups faced much larger forces. We should free up laws on arms, both access and production and distribution. At the beginning of the invasion, Ukraine was literally handing out weapons to its citizens on the street. Anything wrong with that? The EU should insist that countries liberalise these rules. With all due respect, the Portuguese will not defend Poland like a Pole. We need modern and dedicated national troops, not a big moloch.
Tackling the steel crisis: boosting competitive and sustainable European steel and maintaining quality jobs (debate)
Madam President, thank you very much. Steel nerves are needed to face the situation in the steel market. The collapse of the steel industry in Europe is not a vision of the future – it is a reality. Steel production is falling all the time and this is not a crisis, but the result of the stupid and hypocritical policies of the European Union. You place burdens on our manufacturers that other manufacturers in other parts of the world do not have to bear. By closing and burdening our steel mills, we open ourselves to cheap steel from Asian countries, for which conquering our markets is more important than some green transition. Last year, steel production consumed 40 million tonnes of coal across the EU, compared to 700 million tonnes in China. What is the impact of this consumption in the Union on global coal consumption? There is no logic here. It is necessary to move away from the Green Deal standards, the ETS as soon as possible, lower energy prices and limit exports of ferrous scrap from Europe. We cannot allow our steel industry to collapse because of your policies.
One-minute speeches (Rule 179)
Mr. President, on November 11, Poland celebrates the National Independence Day associated with the end of the First World War. Therefore, the Independence March has been passing through the streets of Warsaw for over a dozen years, commemorating Poland's return to the map after 123 years of captivity and occupation by the then three powers – Austria-Hungary, Germany and Russia. The march began as a grassroots initiative, but it has become professionalized and regularly gathers many tens of thousands of participants who celebrate the regaining of independence and manifest pride in being Poles. Unfortunately, the Polish authorities regularly tried to discredit the march with numerous provocations and tried to forcefully take over the march or tried to prevent its organization. Now we have another version of the fight against this grassroots patriotic event. The Mayor of Warsaw, whose slogan was "Warsaw for all" in the elections, refused to allow the march to take place, despite the fact that he often refers to the need to build civil society and also to the European Union. I appeal to the authorities of Warsaw to change this decision. Let the Poles manifest their pride in our great nation. The march will go on like every year. The forefront of great Poland.
Empowering the Single Market to deliver a sustainable future and prosperity for all EU citizens (debate)
Madam President, ladies and gentlemen, I have been a Member for several months and I am genuinely amazed that, in this short time, we are once again debating a new report to show us how to become more competitive, richer, stronger or more beautiful. Apparently, in addition to legislative diarrhoea, we are also dealing with diarrhoea of expert opinions, analyses and reports. Instead, I recommend reading Rothbard, Mises, and Hayek, whose works have stood the test of time in pointing out what is good for economic development and individual freedom. Nobel laureate Frederick von Hayek points out that knowledge in its nature is scattered. It is the market that sends information to traders and consumers through prices. Thanks to this, the market stabilizes itself and adapts to changing conditions and needs. Politicians and officials are not needed at all. The alternative to such spontaneous and dispersed action is central planning, which has always failed many times, because politicians will never have all the dispersed knowledge. The market is not a table in Excel, but a living, dynamically changing organism, and the real leaders in the market are consumers. It is their requirements that entrepreneurs try to meet. The solution that would possibly stimulate the market is to abandon intellectual property rights in the form of, for example, patents. After all, information can be in several places at the same time, without mutual harm. It is not a rare good, therefore it should not be protected as private property. Intellectual property is an artificial creation and its protection is a legal fiction. Do you want wealth and a good future? Bet on the market, not on bureaucracy and reports.
The rise of religious intolerance in Europe (continuation of debate)
Madam President, thank you very much. Blessings of God! For God's sake, the novels in this sad room cross at the beginning of the fight against intolerance. In the Polish Sejm, he hardly bothers anyone. Why are you denying our European Christian heritage? After all, even the EU flag is inspired by the image of Mary, which you forget today. Today, Christians are the most discriminated religious group in the world and also in Europe. In this House, we condemn human rights violations around the world. We defend various minorities, and we forget about the discriminated majority living in our country. Christians today are silent victims. There is no minute of silence or resolution. Reports document an increase in hate crimes against Christians in Europe. The number of profanations of Christian temples and cemeteries is increasing. There is a big problem of converts from Islam to Christianity, about which the media is silent, but it is also the masked face of intolerance. Freedom of speech is restricted, the clause of conscience, the cross is forbidden. Leftist circles are particularly active in this field.
2024 Annual Rule of law report (debate)
Mr President, thank you very much. Ladies and Gentlemen, The rule of law is a buzzword. It allows you to interfere in the internal affairs of the Member States. You praise the same deeds in some and criticize in others. You don't want the law to be followed. You want us to obey the European Union and implement the Green Deal and all your crazy policies. In Poland, it can be seen on the palm of your hand. When the pillar serving the Germans and Brussels came to power, you stopped accusing us of violating the rule of law without any word I check. The result is deplorable. Citizens have lost confidence in the rule of law, as even your opinion polls show. What is the value of these reports? In a report from the previous year, the arrest of Russian spy Pablo Rubtsov (Pablo Gonzalez) by Poland was an example of a violation of the rule of law. And a year later, this agent was released to Russia as part of an exchange of agents. And you didn't even apologize for it. Anyway, look what's going on here. In the European Parliament, the vote counts on the eye. You often go beyond the treaties. You're using sanitary cordons. How does this relate to the rule of law? You do not obey the law, but you want to teach others the rule of law.
Prevention of drug-related crimes, their effect on European citizens and the need for an effective European response (debate)
Madam President, thank you very much. The war on drugs that you are proposing will not succeed, because it has simply never and nowhere worked. In the United States, Al Capone's fortune was built during the Alcohol Prohibition. And it works the same way today as it did back then. It doesn't matter if you forbid alcohol or drugs. The forbidden fruit simply attracts some people who will buy it regardless of the price, especially if they are addicted. On the black market, on the other hand, prices are higher, and therefore profits are higher. And that's why criminal organizations have money to smuggle, to corrupt officials, to carry out all their criminal activities. This is how the black market works. In addition, there is no protection of competition on the black market, there is no arbitration, there is no protection of workers' rights. There is only violence and exploitation. And that's how these organizations work. To eliminate it, you have to take away their black market, take away their profits. And then you can take care of prevention, and make people aware that drugs are harmful. And the war on drugs that you're proposing simply won't work.
Taxing the super-rich to end poverty and reduce inequalities: EU support to the G20 Presidency’s proposal (topical debate)
Mr President, thank you very much. Ladies and Gentlemen, Taxation is theft. Taxation is the legalized looting of the fruits of human labor by the state. And this postulated taxation of the rich is really an even greater scandal that will affect everyone, not only those who are supposed to pay this tax. For hundreds of years, economists have insisted that taxes are passable. The eminent Polish economist Adam Krzyżanowski pointed out that the direct reflex of the taxed person is the intention to increase the price of goods or services by at least the amount of the loss caused by the tax. This means that the tax will actually be paid by all of us consumers, not the super-rich you want to tax. The rich can afford the most expensive lawyers, the most expensive accountants. They'll avoid that tax anyway. But this tax system will hit the poorest. Taxes must be low and simple for everyone, from shoe to millionaire. I'm not defending the rich here, but I want to empower millions of anonymous people who will soon become entrepreneurs, and their ingenuity will make the lives of future generations easier. Let's move away from building an open-air museum, a cartel. Let's simplify and lower taxes for everyone, and don't spend anyone else's money.
The crisis facing the EU’s automotive industry, potential plant closures and the need to enhance competitiveness and maintain jobs in Europe (debate)
Mr President, Ladies and Gentlemen, The problems faced by the automotive industry are not a crisis, but a result. This is the result of this crazy climate policy of the European Union, which fights against traditional cars, with internal combustion engines. It is because of this that the automotive industry is forced to shift production faster and more rapidly than it would have done as a result of market action. At the same time, you are hypocrites. When Chinese electric cars that meet your high standards began to gain popularity, you are imposing additional duties on them to discourage European citizens from buying them. What's the point? Either your concern for the environment is a bluff – you just hate drivers and want to force people to abandon their cars – or you don’t care about European consumers. It does not matter to you that it will be more expensive and worse. You are now protecting European producers because, under the weight of your regulations, they are going bankrupt because they are too expensive. We should not introduce any prohibitive tariffs, but in the end relieve EU automotive operators. We should cut labour and energy costs, and we should also throw the Green Deal in the trash.
Organised crime, a major threat to the internal security of the European Union and European citizens (topical debate)
Madam President, thank you very much. The European Union was supposed to facilitate the free movement of people, goods and capital, and today it actually facilitates the activities of organised crime. Three examples. First, the VAT mafias, which use a flawed system with zero VAT at the border. It's a problem you've known for years, and you're not doing anything about it. Second, the junk mafia. It is estimated that up to 30% of waste trade in the European Union is illegal. In Poland, for years, we have had a massive import of waste and numerous fires of illegal landfills. You're not doing anything about it either. Finally, people smuggling. The policy of forced relocation of immigrants is to throw incentives at smugglers. According to Europol, more than 90% of illegal immigrants reach the European Union thanks to smugglers, whose profits amount to up to €6 billion a year. Anyone who supports mass, uncontrolled, illegal immigration is actually building a villa with a pool for mobsters who smuggle people in. Germany is closing the wrong borders right now. Close the external borders of the European Union and end illegal immigration.
Situation in Venezuela (debate)
Madam President, thank you very much. Equally 85 years ago, Soviet troops entered Poland without declaring war, beginning a very sad and very long period of communism and Soviet occupation in Poland. These are the ideal ancestors of Nicolas Maduro. And just as they have robbed Poles of their dreams for generations, today Nicolas Maduro has stolen power and robbed Venezuelans of their dreams. There is indisputable evidence that the opposition won the elections, and yet Nicolas Maduro, as befits a socialist dictator, ignores not only the economy but also reality, and still maintains that he has the right to rule Venezuela. Instead of wealth, it brought poverty to Venezuelans, instead of development, stagnation, and instead of freedom, it brought censorship and persecution. The socialist regime kidnaps, tortures and kills the opposition. And Venezuela finally said basta! And we must support their struggle for freedom. Socialism kills. Freedom for María Oropeza! Long live Venezuela! Long live the freedom, damn it!
State of the Energy union (debate)
Mr President, thank you very much. It is no longer an energy union, it is an energy murder under the ideology of climateism. Climate policy, including the Green Deal, threatens Europe with catastrophe. Instead of building a competitive, healthy economy, we are taking our industry outside Europe and energy prices are breaking records. In Poland, energy prices, electricity prices have increased by around 150% and gas by 2-3 times over the last 5 years. It is no different in other countries. Regions such as Silesia, the heart of Polish industry, are facing the loss of their identity. The coal that was behind their wealth is now becoming their curse. It's sick, isn't it? We are closing mines and relying on the supply of critical raw materials from countries that are the largest coal consumers in the world, such as China, Australia and Turkey. Last year, global coal consumption was 8.5 billion tons. China used more than half, and Poland only 60 million. Why are you closing Polish mines and not Chinese ones? This is mainly where coal is mined. That is why we cannot be the victim of such a harmful, sick policy. Energy security, which is based on stable and indigenous sources, should be put on the table. We also need to develop nuclear energy and increase its share in the energy mix. And the energy transition itself should be gradual, not incremental, and based on rationalism and real economic needs. We say decisively that the economy should not be guided by the ideology of climateism. It is technology and green energy that should serve man, not man that should serve technology. The Energy Union cannot rely on dictatorship and on cost.
The future of European competitiveness (debate)
Madam President, thank you very much. Draghi's report gives a good diagnosis of the causes of the European Union's economic stagnation, including the main one: We are constrained by excessive regulation, which hinders development. History shows that the increase in wealth is the result of economic freedom, not the actions of bureaucrats. Wealth and development cannot be enacted by law. It is entrepreneurs who, responding to the needs of consumers, are innovative, build a better future and create wealth. In the 19th century, the vast majority of people lived in extreme poverty. Since then, 90% of humanity has come out of it. Every day, more than 100,000 people lift themselves out of poverty through freedom of action. They don't do it through grants, loans, central planning. Innovation and the free market are the source of growth. Our great enrichment resulted from the withdrawal of the state from the economy. States have allowed people to act, they have allowed themselves to be rich. If the European Union wants to compete with the US and Asia, it should support economic freedom, not increase regulation. The problem of the Green Deal and high energy prices was rightly highlighted. This increases the cost of living and limits freedom of action. However, the solution proposed by Mr Draghi in the form of the issuance of debt, which we and our descendants will pay in taxes, cannot be absolutely accepted. Besides, a large budget does not create innovation. The state does not make money on the free market, but on compulsory taxes. It is the enemy of competition and therefore the enemy of innovation. Therefore, the European Union should not deal with innovation, but should allow people to act and increase economic freedom. I hope that you will finally wake up and Europe will once again become a leader, inspiring the world to reject central planning.
