Interim report on the proposal for the multiannual financial framework for 2028-2034 (debate)
Mr President, thank you very much. Mr. Commissioner, I'm sorry. At the beginning, I would like to thank the authors of the report very much for their very good work. Faced with the enormous challenges facing the European Union today, its budget must be ambitious and geared towards security, growth and equal opportunities for development. It must be the financial backbone of deepening European integration. Therefore, the basis is to set the MFF at 1.27% of gross national income, excluding repayments under Next Generation. Ladies and Gentlemen, we need a really strong budget and we need a strong negotiating mandate for Siegfried Mureşan so that our position in the trilogue can be taken into account. I therefore call on all political groups to give their absolute support to this report. Commissioner, we European parliamentarians are on the front lines of the political front. We are the ones who know the expectations of the people of Europe, their ills and what they expect from us, politicians and the European Union. That is why I ask you to take our positions into account, because we are the ones chosen by the people of Europe, and we have chosen you, we have indicated that you implement our policy. I therefore ask that the position of the European Parliament be taken into account in the trilogue.
