We begin with the report by Mr Domènec Ruiz Devesa of the Committee on Constitutional Affairs on the proposal for a Council regulation on the election of the members of the European Parliament by direct universal suffrage and repealing Council Decision (76/787/ECSC, EEC, Euratom) and the Act concerning the election of the members of the European Parliament by direct universal suffrage annexed to that decision (2020/2220(INL) (A9-0083/2022). Ladies and gentlemen, I would ask you to sit down. It's perfectly okay for you to be happy, also for you to give applause to colleagues. I would just like to point out two things: I did not want to spoil the mood today, especially in an obviously contested dossier, but I would like to point out that I will talk to the President about the process today, that two speakers have spoken, although the Rules of Procedure are very clear. And I think we have to stick to rules, the rules that you obviously want to achieve with your legislation. You also want them to be respected. We have to follow the rules or we have to change the rules. But not everyone can do what they want, and this is not a stadium. After this vote, the committees may enter into interinstitutional negotiations. The report will then reappear on the agenda here in plenary.
