Mr President, eighty years ago the military defeat of German National Socialism closed one of the most monstrous pages in the history of humanity, generated, remember, in Europe and by Europe. Nazism succumbed in twelve years, but communism remained, the other redemptive ideology in pursuit of the ideal that only generates hell. Communism murdered more than a hundred million, it is still alive and present today and it is also here in this room. Because on May 8, one part of Europe was liberated, but, in the other, only one tyranny was exchanged for the other. Communism was transformed and, if in Russia we have an aggressor and criminal oligarchy, today in the West we have it disguised as social engineering, collectivist egalitarianism, socialism that pursues the same ends. In honor of so many millions of victims, we defend freedom and truth, the supreme weapons against redemptive, totalitarian and always criminal ideologies.

An urgent assessment of the applicability of the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement (PDCA) with Cuba (debate)

Madam President, Madam High Representative, I really don't know who wrote you the paper on Cuba, but it is certainly embarrassing to hear it after what is happening. The European Union, whose leaders always fill their mouths with moral superiority and lessons from the rest of the world, has many corpses in its closet, but few infamies are greater than those committed by the European Union against the people of Cuba, who have suffered a relentless communist dictatorship for sixty-five years. The complicity of European democracies with this bestial tyranny is one of the most sinister and shameful chapters of foreign policy. And it looks like they want to continue it. It seems that they want to continue as Mr. Borrell, who acted more as ambassador of Cuba than as representative of twenty-seven democracies. The so-called EU-Cuba Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement is part of that disgrace. To our shame, it was two presidents of the Government of Spain – Zapatero and Rajoy, a socialist and a popular – who orchestrated and allowed this Agreement, which is nothing more than a financing pact for a criminal communist dictatorship in exchange for nothing, for absolutely nothing. That has been the Spanish bipartisanship, friend of the longest and most ruthless dictatorship in Hispanic America. The European Union has financed and continues to finance the privileges of the communist mafia, as well as the brutal repression that has left a record of tens of thousands of murdered, thousands of political prisoners and tortured. Enough of this infamy, we suspend this agreement, as this Parliament decided five years ago.

Frozen Russian assets (debate)

Mr. President, the criminal Russian invasion of Ukraine has caused colossal devastation throughout the assaulted country. Ukraine is going to need massive plans and a titanic investment effort. It is logical that many countries want the deposits of the aggressor, of Russia, to be used to compensate the aggressor, which is Ukraine. By the end of 2023, some $335 billion in Russian deposits had been frozen in the West, in addition to the interest that has been generated and spent on different issues. To devote them to these reconstruction purposes, all these frozen funds would have to be confiscated. There are countries that oppose this. The entire international context in which this dilemma is considered has changed radically in two months. With a ceasefire in sight and complex negotiations that will include countless factors, it is to be suspected that deposits will automatically enter, to a large extent, into negotiation. The priority now is to end the war and in this field too much of the yearning for justice is going to fall by the wayside. But there is a clear need for some form of compensation – including those deposits – to be on the table for an aggression that we know will never be punished as it deserves.

Madam President, fortunately, Israel has a society with an instinct and a will to survive far superior to today's Europeans. Situation in Venezuela (debate)

Madam President, there has been a dictatorship in Venezuela for almost a quarter of a century. A dictatorship that, hand in hand with the criminal communist regime of Cuba, has been hardening and brutalizing every year that passed. Now there is an opportunity to change this tragic story I have told you about Venezuela. Thanks to that, the victory of the opposition candidate, Edmundo González Urrutia, is proven and ratified by international organizations. Now, the international community has to do its part. It has to recognize, in the first place, Edmundo González Urrutia as the legitimate president of Venezuela and impose all the pressure on Maduro and his environment so that they suffer if they do not accept the popular will. We see with sadness that the left here, in this hemicycle, led by some Spanish socialists with corrupt and unspeakable ties to the dictatorship, wants to avoid real pressure on the regime, wants to postpone sanctions and wants to leave everything in a kind of request for good behavior to the Maduro dictatorship. No, the resolution has what is just and necessary to defend Venezuelans and put credible pressure on the dictatorship. Maduro and his assassins must be certain that they will not have sanctuaries and their loot will be confiscated. I hope that, despite the accomplices that Maduro has in this hemicycle, many - of all groups - will vote for this resolution for freedom, democracy and Venezuelans.

In the West we have managed to fill the streets of all our capitals with immigrants, with Islamists shouting that they want to destroy Israel, that they want Palestine from the river to the sea, that is, to liquidate Israel. That is what we have achieved in reaction in all European capitals with these accusations that have been made to Israel with so little foundation. Israel is defending itself, it is defending itself against Iran, against that Iran that you have protected, Mr Borrell, for so long. During these five years he has been protecting the most criminal regime in the region, that regime that kills its own, that tortures its own, that kills its women and that wants to destroy Israel. And you are protecting both Iran and Hamas right now.

Mr President, it is certainly very funny to hear German MEPs from the Greens/EFA Group, the S&D Group or the EPP Group talk about putinising and deputising, when they have been the ones who have putinised the whole of Europe. And they were told very clearly. Who was Schröder? Who is Olaf Scholz? Who's Steinmeier? And who is Mrs. Merkel with Nord Stream, who did what she did and who gave Putin what she gave him? Right now Spain is the largest buyer of Russian gas after China. Spain is an ally of Venezuela, of Cuba, of all Russia's allies. And it turns out that you make some scary lists, because you are afraid that you will run out of the single party of social democrats and people. They are running out and, because they are afraid, you are campaigning for disinformation and putting me and a number of people like me, who have been writing against Putin for forty years, and certainly for the last twenty years, on a list. They are so wrong and so sloppy when it comes to misinformation. The Russians misinform, of course, but you misinform a lot because you are afraid and because you are guilty of what has happened in Europe in the last twenty years that Putin has been. And you have been with Putin until the end.
