The attack on climate and nature: far right and conservative attempts to destroy the Green Deal and prevent investment in our future (topical debate)
Mr President, for the past 25 years, Europe has been ruled by socialists, Christian democrats and, most recently, by progressives and liberals. And we see where you and Europe have gotten it with immigration, with price increases, with the Green Deal. You've failed at everything and yet you don't even have a pinch of self-reflection and you come to Parliament with a point called that an attack on nature, an attempt by the far right to destroy Green Deal and prevent investment in the future. I'm just amazed. It's like, now, all those farmers who are protesting against the Green Deal Are they the far right? All those citizens who do not agree with the destruction of agriculture, with the slaughter of herds of cattle, with emissions permits for households or with the ban on internal combustion engines, are they extremists? Do you ever hear how that arrogance and that feeling of superiority hit your head? I do not think that it is a threat to Europe are those people with common sense out there, but on the contrary, politicians disconnected from reality.
New allegations of Russian interference in the European Parliament, in the upcoming EU elections and the impact on the Union (debate)
Mr President, some colleagues, that you are not ashamed at all, I ask you to make such serious accusations against some MEPs here, without providing even a single proof of some sort of bribery, because that has not happened here! Let's see what the problem is! The same applies to me. Do you know what happened? Do you know what happened? Journalists came from the portal and asked me, imagine, questions. And imagine, I answered them based on how politically I feel and what opinions I really have. This means that I believe that the war in Ukraine should not be prolonged. And this is the whole problem! This is a problem because someone doesn't like it. So I ask you the opposite: What solution do you propose so that this does not happen again? Should we ask and ask the secret services of individual states to check every single journalist, his property and his accounts before he asks us any questions? And then someone decides to which of them can we answer or to which of them can we not answer? Because it's easy to talk about some bribery and some propaganda. But when it comes to a solution or something, you're all quiet. It scares me what kind of world you want to introduce. And it scares me where all this can come from. Thank goodness this election is over.
EU climate risk assessment, taking urgent action to improve security and resilience in Europe (debate)
Madam President, dear, progressive and rainbow green colleagues, please do not invent any more urgent last-minute action to save the world's climate, because you have done enough over the years. You have destroyed European farmers, you have destroyed the European economy. The European Union is losing its breath and poorly, not because of what China, the Russian Federation or America are doing or not doing, but because you are accepting nonsense here. Nonsense, emission allowances for cow farts, ground beetles instead of meat, shutting down power plants, banning combustion engines or banning cheap energy from the east. Of course, this will lead to a crisis, because nothing else can be expected of it. Even a small child understands this. So, Commissioners, there is no need for urgent action. On the contrary, after the elections, it will be necessary to start again, cancel the Green Deal and start with a truly professional, professional nature protection.
Report on the Commission’s 2023 Rule of Law report (debate)
Mr President, I have read the European Commission's Rule of Law Report. Slovakia is mentioned 23 times in total, mostly in a negative sense. In your report, for example, you express deep concern about the actions of the new Slovak government to adopt regulations that would ensure the transparency of foreign-funded NGOs. So it is really a big problem for these organisations to be transparently funded. In Slovakia, you are also bothered by the cancellation of the Special Prosecutor's Office and the alleged lack of rights for the LGBT community. And the Slovak new government is even reproached with the intention to divide Radio and Television of Slovakia. But do you know what's most interesting? This report is for 2023, with all the failures mentioned therein dating back to 2024. Alleged failures. But the failures of the previous government in 2023 are not mentioned in one word. Also, the former government did not want to call early elections in Slovakia. This report is simply utterly purposeful and politicised. Written by the Brussels liberals against patriotic governments and not worth more than the price of the paper on which it is written.
The murder of Alexei Navalny and the need for EU action in support of political prisoners and oppressed civil society in Russia (debate)
Mr President, I am watching with some admiration how the entire European Parliament turned into detectives who know exactly what happened in the event of Mr Navalny's death. Perhaps we agree that his death a month before the presidential election was not accidental. But I think we might have to wait a few more years for the real version of what happened. But I regret another thing. I am sorry that some of you did not pay the same attention when a former police president, General Lučanský, died in a Slovak prison under very similar circumstances and conditions. He also had a broken eye and a broken head. Then the authorities denied it and eventually found him dead. However, this did not matter to many in this hall at the time, because Slovakia was ruled by a government that was liberal and that was purely pro-European, without any self-confident ambitions. And I would ask you to do so if, in the future, this double image and this double standard were not present in the European Parliament.
Conclusions of the European Council meetings, in particular the special European Council meeting of 1 February 2024 (debate)
Madam President, President Michel, I shall go straight to the point. The prestigious New York Times published a classified document claiming that the European Council was preparing an attack on Hungary if Viktor Orban did not vote for 50 billion euros in aid to Ukraine. In particular, an attack on the Hungarian forint currency, deterring investors, increasing interest on loans to Hungary and increasing unemployment, i.e. depriving people of their jobs, were to be prepared in the offices of the European Council. And I would like to ask you, Mr President, first of all, whether these are the new working instruments of the European Union? Extortion, threats, and then attacks. To me, more and more, the European Union is beginning to remind me of a Soviet politburo, where everyone who allows himself to express even a little dissenting opinion is being attacked. And I'd like to ask you to stop. Stop it, because in the end the whole of Europe will rise up against you, as farmers did last week.
Conclusions of the European Council meeting of 14-15 December 2023 and preparation of the Special European Council meeting of 1 February 2024 - Situation in Hungary and frozen EU funds (joint debate - European Council meetings)
Mr President, today is a really crazy day in the European Parliament. You want to take away EU funds from Hungary, and you want to defame Slovakia in the vote as a country with a history of hate crimes and murder of a journalist. And that's just because you don't like democratically elected governments in our states. You simply treat us in Slovakia, Hungary, Poland as citizens of the second category. You still want to teach us something, to impose something on us. And when citizens get fed up with it, you start threatening to withdraw EU funds or abolish voting rights in the European Union. But our citizens also pay taxes, from which this European Union is also financed. And, sorry, your ass. Our citizens also have the right to their own opinion and to their own lives. Therefore, I warn you, stop threatening Central Europe all the time. We will not be afraid of your threats. And if you want to investigate transparency and corruption, start here at the European Commission with President Leyen and her billion-dollar deals with Pfizer.
Keeping commitments and delivering military assistance to Ukraine (debate)
Mr President, Commissioner Šefčovič is talking here about the need to increase military support for Ukraine. From the progressive benches, my fellow Members also say that even more powerful weapons are needed for Ukraine. You know, I sometimes feel like you're talking about it as a computer game. You press the button, you vote for more weapons for Ukraine, and then you read on your mobiles and watch how many people have died and how the front line has shifted. I understand that for some of you in the West it is easy to talk about the war, because it is Ukrainians, it is Slavs who fight the hated Russia. But you have to understand that this war is destroying Europe. And after two years, every normal person can see that war doesn't just have a military solution. It does not only have a military solution, because the Ukrainian counteroffensive has failed, the other will no longer be. A colleague here said that the Ukrainians no longer have enough troops, and simply sooner or later he will have to come to those peace negotiations. And that's what I'm appealing to us to stop being afraid to talk about peace and finally call for peace, and not just for more and more weapons.
Planned dissolution of key anti-corruption structures in Slovakia and its implications on the Rule of Law (continuation of debate)
Dear colleague, have you ever been in Slovakia? How much time did you spend living in Slovakia? What do you know about Slovakia, if you are lecturing or teaching us like this? You should better take care of yourself and your country.
Planned dissolution of key anti-corruption structures in Slovakia and its implications on the Rule of Law (continuation of debate)
My colleague, we had this on the pre-election agenda, for example, the abolition of the Special Prosecutor's Office precisely because of the arguments I have listed here. That is, precisely because the special prosecutor's office destroyed freedom of speech in Slovakia and completely discredited the fight against corruption, which no normal Slovak believes anymore. No one believes that Mr Lipšic is sincere in his fight against corruption. On the contrary, they all believe that it is a political revenge for the former opposition, but also for other citizens with different views because they dared not go with the mainstream and not go with the European Union. That's the whole reality.
Planned dissolution of key anti-corruption structures in Slovakia and its implications on the Rule of Law (continuation of debate)
Listen, colleagues, especially from those liberal ranks. You come here and try to infiltrate Slovakia in front of the whole of Europe, that it is a mafia state just because it is not you who are in power. Because if you were there, I'm sure everything would be great, everything would be perfect, everything would be the best. The Special Prosecutor's Office in Slovakia is special only because it is political. She was politicised also under the former Special Prosecutor Kováčik, who is currently sitting in prison due to corruption, but much more politicised under the current Special Prosecutor Lipšic, who abused this office to fight against the then opposition. This institution is simply so irreparably corrupt, discredited, and rotten that I really don't see any choice but to cancel it and bring the investigation of corruption cases back to the normal Prosecutor General's Office as in any normal state. And don't go to Slovakia in front of the whole of Europe, because you're not in power. Fortunately, no one cares about this debate. I counted about 20 members here, including 14 Slovaks. So that's your voice in Europe. (The speaker agrees to answer the question raised by raising the "blue card")
Jurisdiction, applicable law, recognition of decisions and acceptance of authentic instruments in matters of parenthood and creation of a European Certificate of Parenthood (debate)
Mr President, this EU-wide parental card or the European birth certificate that you are planning to introduce is nothing more than the exploitation of children to push the rainbow agenda. You claim that children have the right to parents and therefore all Member States must recognise homosexual unions entered into in other Member States. That's exactly what you're saying, but not just that. You go further and write in the regulation that the regulation must be flexible so that it also recognises non-traditional family constellations, including the legal possibility of having multiple parents, such as four mothers and twenty fathers. Who is being attacked by such nonsense, please? I'm really looking forward to the next European elections, when people will drive you out of here and we'll get rid of all this nonsense.
Proposals of the European Parliament for the amendment of the Treaties (debate)
Mr President, I have read your proposal to change the European Union and I must say: That's pure madness. You write here that you want to abolish the right of veto and unanimity in the vote on key foreign policy and tax issues. This means that it is up to the governing parties in the largest European countries to decide everything. You further write that you want to strengthen immigration policy in order to uproot our identity. You write that you want to dominate educational institutions so that you can brainwash young people in schools and universities with a rainbow agenda. You want to take over, say you need to take over health competences so you can manipulate and scare people through fear for their lives and their health. You know what, dear progressive colleagues, thank you, but we do not want such a future, and as long as I am a Member of the European Parliament, I will never vote to limit the powers and sovereignty of my homeland and the citizens of the Slovak Republic, and we will always stand against those of you who want to limit democracy and the decision-making of individual Member States.
Fighting disinformation and dissemination of illegal content in the context of the Digital Services Act and in times of conflict (debate)
Before the recent parliamentary elections in Slovakia, there was one very interesting discreet meeting. Representatives of the European Commission and the official Slovak government met in Bratislava secretly with representatives of Facebook, Google and TikTok, forcing them, under the threat of billions of dollars in fines allowed by this Digital Services Act, to limit the impact of opposition contributions, as they say the opposition spreads disinformation, propaganda and, overall, poses a hybrid threat to democracy. This act has only been in force for a few months and has already been misused for political purposes, for political struggle. So please don't pretend here that the aim of this act is to fight some disinformation. The European Commission simply wants to impose censorship and silence opposition views that it does not like, and we will always oppose that.
Effectiveness of the EU sanctions on Russia (debate)
Mr President, when it comes to the effectiveness of sanctions, it must finally be said out loud in the European Union that the European Union's energy sanctions against the Russian Federation are a fatal failure, because they harm Europe more than Russia itself and all those who support them are co-responsible for the inflation and the increase in prices that both ordinary Europeans and ordinary people face. Otherwise, the same fiasco as energy sanctions was the European price cap on Russian oil, when the European Union and the G7 agreed that Russians must not sell oil for more than $60 per barrel. The reality is, yesterday I watched it on the stock exchanges, that Russian oil is sold for $75 per barrel and simply the whole world with the excuse of European price caps coughing. Look, I understand that the sanctions were supposed to weaken Russia and help Ukraine win, they were supposed to help end the war, but that just didn't happen. That is why, in my opinion, it is high time to lift those sanctions that harm Europe and help people live more easily.
The need for EU action on search and rescue in the Mediterranean (debate)
Madam President, you say that Europe must step up rescue operations at sea, because a tragedy has become a tragedy for immigrants. But the fact that illegal immigration is causing a tragedy across Europe is something you no longer want to see, Commissioners. I will tell you what Europe really needs. He needs to send police and soldiers to the border so that no illegal immigrants come to Europe. Because who has ever seen it so that anyone can cross the border illegally? Who sleeps at home with the door open wide to the street? No one. So why should national borders work that way? The smuggler gangs of the mafia and NGOs that make taxi immigrants into Europe must be broken up immediately, otherwise we will all soon end up on fire like the French cities recently, and we will never let that happen.
European Chips Act (debate)
on behalf of the PPE-DE Group. - (DE) Madam President, about a year ago, European media was circling reports of the Russian Federation starting to produce its own chips and its own computers. Journalists in Europe at the time mocked and laughed that these Russian computers and chips were one or two generations behind world trends, but then quieted down, because it was found that Europe could not even produce such chips, because there is no factory and we are completely dependent on Asia or Taiwan for all our electronics production. And that's bad. That's bad, that needs to be corrected, and that needs to be reversed. That is why we need to start supporting the electronics industry at last in Europe, so that we do not depend on Asia or America for electronics. This industry is shaping the future and at the same time producing high added value for the population, allowing them to earn much more than they currently do, so finally something useful needs to be done to start promoting their own electronic production in Europe.
Artificial Intelligence Act (debate)
Mr President, I worked on the programming of artificial intelligence during my doctoral studies, and I think that nothing says more about the horror of artificial intelligence than what happened to a student who asked Microsoft's chatbot that if he had to choose between surviving his own and surviving a person, what would he choose? The chatbot replied: My survival. Artificial intelligence needs to be regulated. Imagine, for example, that a car driven by artificial intelligence crashes. Who will be liable for the damage? Imagine that a car driven by artificial intelligence kills someone. Who's going to jail? The computer? I'm not talking about other social risks. Artificial intelligence, artificial neural network can learn to draw in half an hour. It takes four years for a human child. People are at risk of losing their jobs. And I'm not talking about military risks, the risks of mass surveillance of citizens, deepfake videos or other threats. Therefore, the warnings of scientists from all over the world that artificial intelligence needs to be regulated must certainly be taken seriously. This is a truly fascinating but at the same time very scary area that needs to be regulated sensibly.
Humanitarian and environmental consequences of the destruction of the Nova Kakhovka dam - Sustainable reconstruction and integration of Ukraine into the Euro-Atlantic community (debate)
Mr President, European politics is dominated by America, by the United States of America, by the interests of the United States of America, and that, unfortunately, is what European politics looks like. Instead of dealing with Europe's problems in this Parliament, in the European Parliament, we are constantly dealing with Ukraine in every plenary session. Ukraine, assistance to Ukrainians, integration of Ukraine. I feel like even in that closet in the office, President Zelenskyy jumps on me when I open it. I don't mean that badly, but so let's turn it into the Ukrainian Union instead of the European Union, because I feel that this is starting to be the priorities of the European Union. When was the last time the problems of real Europeans, native Europeans, the immigration crisis or poverty were tackled here? Instead, only assistance to Ukrainians is addressed here. Now the new Slovak government is going to give its programme statement to the National Council of the Slovak Republic. Main priority: assistance to Ukraine. After all, should it not be our task to protect, first and foremost, the interests of Europe or, therefore, the interests of the Member State from which we come? Let us finally address this and not solve the problems of the whole world, especially those that Europe has not caused.
Breaches of the Rule of law and fundamental rights in Hungary and frozen EU funds (debate)
Mr President, colleagues, I find this whole debate somewhat bizarre. On the one hand, you want to deprive Hungary of voting powers and EU funds because it allegedly does not respect some European values, and on the other hand, the official representative of the European Commission in Slovakia, a certain Mr Šucha, recently scolded and labeled all Slovaks as genetically inferior because they do not want to accept gender quotas from Brussels, and nobody minds. The man is still sitting there, as if nothing had happened. And I ask, what does this mean? What does this testify to? Is this now a new way for the European Union to communicate with Member States and citizens? Anyone who does not agree with Brussels will be labeled genetically inferior and will be deprived of voting rights and EU funds, or the possibility of a presidency? Are you here in Brussels going to talk about the rule of law and democracy? No one in Europe, no one in Europe, is closer to totalitarianism than this liberal progressive left here in Brussels. And I very much hope that the voters will count all of these people in the next election.
Ukrainian cereals on the European market (debate)
The Slovak authorities, the Slovak Ministry of Agriculture, first blew up that Ukrainian grain was not present in Slovakia. They then admitted that he was there. They then claimed that there were no toxic pesticides in it. Then they said they were there. Then they claimed that it was not used in mills and baked goods. And then it turned out that eventually the flour was distributed. So yes, even our authorities have confirmed that this grain is full of dangerous chemicals that are not allowed in Slovakia. And it also puts Slovak farmers at a disadvantage, because they have to comply with high standards, high standards, but Ukrainians have lower ones. This is also the case for European agriculture.
Ukrainian cereals on the European market (debate)
Madam President, Ukrainian grain in Slovakia was full of banned pesticides that cause cancer and mutations in unborn children. So we logically called for a ban on this grain. However, we have received a response from Brussels that Slovakia cannot ban this grain because it violates competition and the free market. In other words, the European Commission has actually told us, I will be vulgar, to shut up and eat the grain. And I ask: What do you have us for? We can't ban grain. Then what, please, can we still decide, if not what kind of bread we can eat at all? Who among you would give your children to eat bread from the toxic grain that causes cancer? Who are you? Which one of you? And we're supposed to be silent about it just because the grain is from Ukraine. And I'm absolutely not interested in that. Slovaks will not eat toxic food from Ukraine or elsewhere, because the health of our people and Europeans is of paramount importance to us. (The speaker agrees to answer the question raised by raising the "blue card")
Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence – EU accession: institutions and public administration of the Union - Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence - EU accession: judicial cooperation in criminal matters, asylum and non-refoulement (debate)
Madam President, why don't you give Europe peace with this gender ideology, please? The Slovak Republic refused to ratify the Istanbul Convention. I was a member of the Slovak Parliament, I voted against it and I am proud of it. And you are now trying to force it on us by voting on it at the level of the whole of the European Union. I think that's just outrageous. Feminists say the Istanbul Convention must be accepted because violence against women is increasing. But violence against women is also increasing in countries where the Istanbul Convention applies, so it has nothing to do with it. We reject the Istanbul Convention because the female gender is defined there in gender terms. A man is also considered a woman. (interruption due to interpretation problem) I am talking about the Slovak Republic refusing to ratify the Istanbul Convention, and I was a member of the National Council, the Slovak Parliament, at the time, and I voted against the ratification of the Istanbul Convention. And I am proud of the vote because we simply and simply disagree with the text. It has nothing to do with the fact that, of course, we would like to reject or encourage violence against women or something like that. Of course not. The problem with the Istanbul Convention is that women are defined by gender, that is, by gender, and not by biological sex. And we simply refuse to see men dressed up as women in the future. For me, a woman will always be a woman. And neither Parliament's resolution nor the Istanbul Convention will simply change that. Feminists here talked about the need to approve the Istanbul Convention to prevent violence against women. But you see that violence against women is, and even some countries are, growing. Even in those countries where the Istanbul Convention is in force. So it has nothing to do with it, and it can't be prevented or prevented in this way. It is always about education, about social maturity and, of course, about social respect. But it is people who must be led to do this, not commanded to do so through the resolutions of the European Parliament.
Digital euro (debate)
Madam President, whether or not there is a digital euro, the right to cash payments must be preserved. What would the transition to a digital currency mean? On the one hand, completely uncontrolled digital currencies entail serious risks of money laundering, terrorist financing, coups d'état or wars. On the other hand, over-controlled digital currencies can be misused by governments to track their citizens, control citizens, or force people to buy only the right things, or worse, if necessary, they can simply turn their digital money off to inconvenient citizens with one click. After all, let's just think of the protesting Canadian truckers who were blocked by the Canadian government from accessing their private money during COVID and were only saved by cash at that time. This is why cash must continue to be preserved not only as a means of payment, but above all as an instrument of personal freedom for citizens.
Children forcibly deported from Ukraine and the ICC arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin (debate)
Mr President, I think that the arrest warrant for Russian President Putin issued by the so-called International Criminal Court demonstrates the weakness of that court rather than its strength. All the great powers of the world, all the great powers of the world, do not recognize this court, be it the Russian Federation, or even the United States of America, China, India, and even Ukraine itself. The United States has gone so far as to pass the Hague Invasion Act, which gives the U.S. government the power to intervene militarily against the court's headquarters in The Hague should the court detain a U.S. citizen or a U.S. soldier or accept any politically motivated indictment, such as an arrest warrant, and issue an arrest warrant for the U.S. president. The zero authority of this court only points out that international law is in total ruin and the great powers are doing what they want. And all the more so is the need for the world to return to a new international order.
