EU cybersecurity and preparedness in view of advanced AI systems (debate)
Madam President, Madam Vice-President, Madam Minister, you have come to denounce the risks of Mythos d'Anthropic and ChatGPT 5 of OpenAI, two American companies. Yes, since its launch in April 2026, Mythos has shown its power. Yes, some even feared that it would escape the control of its creators. But this model is not accessible to the public, I would say, much like Ursula's SMS with Pfizer. The first is hidden to protect citizens, the second was hidden to protect Brussels from citizens. So rather than commenting on American or Chinese advances, we should, finally, invest massively in artificial intelligence here in Europe. Arthur Mensch, the founder of Mistral, explained last week to the National Assembly wanting to invest 1 billion euros in research and development. By November 2025, OpenAI had already surpassed $14 billion in investments. The real danger is not just these models; The real danger is the dependence that Brussels organises. This is indeed the dependency that Brussels organizes, but I do not even talk about gold-plating that still dominates, despite official speeches on simplification. The bureaucracy is holding up. And I will end with this example that you know very well, ladies, which would be comical if it weren't so tragic. I was the Patriots' rapporteur on the "AI" omnibus. For six hours, we debated what a "nudifier" was. and from what percentage of buttocks an image became illegal. Some have even wondered if a T-shirt Wet could become a "nudifier". In fact, Europe will not have the artificial intelligence revolution. She knowingly avoids it, she looks elsewhere. And to realize the strength of China and the United States, just look at the number of patents filed in 2024. (The speaker shows a graph) China deposited almost 50%, the United States 16%, and Europe 5.4%. So if we're not at the table, we're on the menu. I will end with this sentence, even if I do not share it in the United States, but I share it here, it is: Make Europe great again.
