Advancing towards a care society: addressing the gender care gap (debate)
Mr President, you are talking about the social care of the family, while in Greece the social services, those of the municipalities, the KDAPs and others, are planting with a minimum of poorly paid staff, hostages of contracts through the NSRF that will expire in the coming period, leaving hanging both the workers and the popular families in need of these structures. You have a plan, you finance the war economy and you place individual family responsibility in the care of children, the elderly, the disabled, the chronically ill, in the name of gender equality, the supposedly more equal burden-sharing between the couple. With the cost-benefit criterion you do not ensure public and free services necessary for this care, in order to treasure individuals from the commercialization and privatization of these services. The "reconciliation of family and professional life" means for women hours and life rubber with broken rights. What is really modern and necessary is the social protection of maternity and family, with fully staffed free public services and care structures, with exclusively state responsibility, without any business action, involvement of individuals and non-governmental organizations.
