Sudan’s abandoned humanitarian crisis: three years of conflict (debate)
Mr President, three years into this devastating conflict, Sudan has become one of the world's most neglected humanitarian crises. Millions have been displaced, famine is spreading, the basic services have collapsed. Behind the numbers are families forced to flee, children without education and communities cut off from lifesaving aid. We cannot allow this crisis to remain invisible. The European Union must scale up humanitarian assistance, ensure safe and unhindered access for aid organisations and strengthen diplomatic efforts to push for an immediate ceasefire. At the same time, accountability must not be forgotten – violations of international humanitarian law cannot go unanswered. Regional instability is growing, affecting neighbouring countries and risking wider consequences. This is not only a moral test, but also a question of global responsibility and security. Dear Commissioner, you need all help, with your other colleagues – trade, everything must be used to help you and help Sudanese people.
