The amendment seeks to reinforce the application of subsidiarity and proportionality principles in EU legislation. National parliaments are to be more actively involved through enhanced mechanisms like the early warning system. The political objective is to ensure decisions are made as close to citizens as possible while reducing unnecessary regulation. The European Court of Justice’s role in reviewing these principles is scrutinized. The long-term goal is to strengthen trust in the EU through more transparent and efficient lawmaking.
