EU governance under pressure – institutional responses to global challenges (debate)
Mr President, dear colleagues, I think it is quite possible that this discussion will remain in the history of the debates in the European Parliament, because I see that in the germ here we are finally dealing with the unveiling of your plans. I have long said that we want to federalise Europe and give up the principle of ‘Unity in diversity’, otherwise how can federalisation be if we do not give up our traditions, customs, religion and everything that means national identity. Now I hear about treaty reforms, I hear about treaty changes. Very well, change them, but change them for the sovereignty of the states that make up this European Union. Because, said the colleague who initiated this oral question, no country can be independent in any way. I contradict you, sir, Romania was energetically independent and you dealt with the Green Deal to shut down our mines, to shut down our power plants, to leave our people in exile through the European Union or in other states, so that we are no longer energy independent.
