Presentation of the Fertilisers Action Plan (debate)
Madam President, thank you very much. Have you heard of Urea? Many Europeans do not have it. But urea is a very important fertilizer and important for our food production. But now Europe is facing a crisis. Due to delivery problems in the Strait of Hormuz, which risks making it more expensive for our farmers. But this dependence on unsafe imports, it was predictable. Europe has its own resources, but we have a lot of bureaucracy, long permit processes and ideological decisions that make us still dependent. We continue to export emissions and import vulnerabilities. In addition to strengthening our self-sufficiency, fertilisers should also be excluded from the CBAM. It was included from the outset, but has been removed from the action plan. And this risks making it more expensive for our farmers and for our food.
