Regional Emergency Support: RESTORE (debate)
In September, devastating floods hit Central and Eastern Europe and Portugal was devastated by fires. The victims, including my compatriots from the south of Poland, still urgently need basic material assistance. Cohesion policy funds support EU Member States in the event of natural disasters, but this scale of losses is not enough. Immediate and flexible management of these measures is crucial. The RESTORE proposal responds to these challenges. In addition to additional flexibility in the use of part of the funds, material and social assistance, RESTORE reduces the budgetary burden on Member States. I would ask for your support in order to be able to implement this proposal as soon as possible. Many people have lost their entire lives, their homes and their sense of security. Let us act now, with full commitment, to restore normality as soon as possible and to give hope to those who need it most now.
