Presentation of the Fertilisers Action Plan (debate)
Madam President, I'm sorry. Ladies and Gentlemen, Agriculture must be competitive. To be competitive, fertilizer prices must be lower and nitrogen plants must produce cheaper. For this to happen, gas prices must fall. Gas is the primary raw material for the production of nitrogen fertilizers. But gas is not only the main component related to the price of fertilizers. This also includes the ETS and CBAM. It is necessary to suspend the CBAM. It is necessary to suspend the ETS. But here, in this room, I have heard the pro-Russian narrative many times. It was Russia that for years made Europe, Poland dependent on gas, oil and coal. Today, these politicians go here in the European Parliament and criticise the policies of the European Union. Maybe it would be fairer if they stopped earning in euros and started earning in rubles. But with fertilizers, we must necessarily do something.
