European Citizens’ Initiative ‘Stop destroying videogames’ (debate)
Madam President, I'm sorry. After a long day, you just want to relax and play your favorite game. But what do you see on the screen? The game is unavailable. Of course, companies can't be expected to maintain all games forever, but they should manage to keep games that have already been purchased playable. And here is a more important question. When you buy a game digitally, do you buy a copy of the game or rent it for a while? A significant number of players believe in the former, as is clear from the European Citizens' Initiative. Consumers should not lose access to a game they have already bought. There is therefore an urgent need to clarify rights and obligations in this area. If you buy a product, you have the right to use it. It's that simple.
