High time to deliver on the Single Market, providing certainty and predictability for EU businesses and quality jobs (continuation of debate)
Madam President, ladies and gentlemen, the single market is not just a common economic area, but a geopolitical instrument with which to transform the economic strength of the European Union into a power of global influence. And today's debate confirms that completing the internal market is urgent to strengthen our competitiveness and strategic autonomy. Regrettably, regulatory fragmentation and bureaucracy are holding back investment and labour mobility, which must be held back by the recognition of professional qualifications, as attracting skills is crucial for renewal and growth. In an increasingly competitive global environment, our companies demand clear and stable rules and not 27 bureaucracies. That is why we await and welcome the introduction of the 28º regime because, together with the Capital Markets Union, it will allow companies to grow and compete globally. Finally, completing and regulating the Single Market requires transversal competences, but I hope that IMCO will always be involved in every file, in order to ensure legislative consistency with the important work done so far.
