Recent developments in the Serbia-Kosovo dialogue, including the situation in the northern municipalities in Kosovo (debate)
The rise in tensions between Serbia and Kosovo is largely the result of unfulfilled commitments. First and foremost, the association of Serb-majority municipalities, which was already planned to be set up under the 2013 Brussels Agreement, is slow to materialise, amid constitutional disputes. Not to mention the big and small advances. I had denounced, for example, the polemics relating to certain Orthodox monasteries classified by Unesco. As for the imbroglio on the mayors of northern Kosovo, has it not been too provocative? It is gratifying that a change of tone, particularly on the part of the Americans, is at last a bit of a nuance to an international approach that has long been marked by a certain bias towards Belgrade. It is indeed urgent to keep the promises made to the Kosovo Serbs, if we hope to overcome the abyss of mistrust that separates them from the Albanian community.
